Rudy is known for his recurring role as Wesley on the hit Netflix series "Dear White People" and his four season run as Rudy the P.A. on the The CW's "Jane The Virgin." Originally the one-line role was known simply as "The P.A." but his co-star, Jaime Camil, used Rudy's real name on camera so often that the creators decided to name the character Rudy and write him into several more episodes. "I'm glad they named my character," says Rudy, "I never would have guessed that my one line would turn into four wonderful years on the show!"
Rudy got his start in TV as a recurring host on "Disney 365," a beloved interstitial program on The Disney Channel, as well as roles on "iCarly" and "Good Luck Charlie". A windfall career opportunity came when he was cast as a regular on the NBC medical drama "Heartbeat." Along the way he's also had recurring roles on "Grace and Frankie", ABC's "Speechless," and guest-starred on the newest season of "Veronica Mars" on Hulu.
Rudy was born and raised in South Pasadena, California and began exploring the arts at a young age, immersing himself in plays and musicals. He attended UC Santa Barbara where he received a research grant to study physical theater and puppetry. Inspired by vivid theatrical experiences like those created by Robert Wilson and Julie Taymor, he took an interest in hyper-theatrical, multi-disciplinary story-telling with particular interest in immigrant and LGBTQ+ stories.
After college, Rudy worked with Tony Award winning companies like South Coast Repertory and East West Players, as well as Independent Shakespeare Company, Breath of Fire, and Playwright's Arena. His performance in "Angel of the Desert" at Studio SCR was called "sensitive and emotionally raw" by the OC Examiner and he won a Best Supporting Actor award for that role.
When he's not acting Rudy enjoys sketching, playing his ukulele, and writing.
